Job Overview
This position has overall responsibility for the functional area of codes and certifications in support of Killark brands serving the industrial and commercial markets. This includes product standards, product certifications and installation codes that directly affect the compliance, marketability and strategic position of current products and new product offerings.
This position works closely with outside organizations and varying departments in the company, including those in Marketing and Sales.
A Day In The Life
- Organization and administration of approvals, certifications, documents, site certifications, etc. and cooperation with the notified bodies / conformity assessment bodies.
- Work in conjunction with New Product Development Engineers to support third party product safety certifications.
- Follow activities in wide variety of organizations; NEMA, UL, CSA, NFPA (NEC), CEC, IECEx, ATEX as examples.
- Become well versed in the applicable third-party safety standards to support our project portfolio.
- Prepares and submits required documentation for outside agencies (CSA, UL, etc…) to gain and maintain appropriate certifications for hazardous location equipment
- Provide input on product certifications to cross functional New Product Development teams.
- Support development of new sales opportunities through standards and code developments.
- Represent Hubbell interests for Standards, Codes and Certification development to external groups and organizations.
- Certification test planning and scheduling
- Provide guidance to Engineering staff and Technical Service on third party certification matters.
- Review Instructions and publications of new or modified products.
- Provide support to other Hubbell business units when warranted.
- Assist in establishing Multiple Listings and resolving Variation Notices and Industry File Reviews.
- Serve as a liaison to certification auditors during factory surveillance visits
- UL 60079, UL 1203, CSA 30 and NFPA 70 knowledge is a plus
What will help you thrive in this role?
5 years working experience within a design engineering setting with a focus on Codes and Standards activities including UL, CSA, IEC and NFPA. Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering General or Other
- Specialized Studies in Other Technology
