Job Overview

The Applications Engineer will work, as part of a collaborative team, on custom solutions to our standard product offerings. In this role you will be responsible for providing drawings and utilizing 3D Inventor models for customer approval and accuracy for shop floor development. The role requires electrical and mechanical knowledge, as well as machining and assembly skills. The position is also involved with the development of product lines and cost savings projects. This is an engineering role within the design team to allow for the individual to grow and learn Killark products and standards while fostering individual growth.

 

A Day In The Life

  • Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 
  • Communicate offerings through Product Management and Customer Service to end-users.
  • Receive customer orders and produce 3D models and drawings.
  • Maintain high technical familiarity and understand for existing and newly introduced products available within the marketplace (offered both from the company & competition).
  • Provide shop floor support when assistance is needed.
  • Be able to provide support for selecting components for electrical and mechanical design (i.e. breakers, contactors, starters, handles, pilot lights etc).

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Entry level position with Minimum Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited university
  • Solid Modeling Skills (i.e. Inventor or Solids Works).
  • Able to read wiring diagrams and understanding of circuitry.
  • Ability to start up development initiatives, define work scope, breakdown and complete product development project within a timely basis (gates-approval management).
  • Effectively present information and work with the department manager, individual salespeople, customers and factory floor/support personnel.
  • Experience in design, development, maintenance and testing of mechanical and/or electrical devices is
  • preferred.
  • Able to understand small electrical systems (i.e. motor starter, lighting panels).
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Computer Skills: Must have Microsoft Office experience.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independent and/or in groups.
  • Effective project management skills.
