Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

This role will, with support from Subject Matter Experts, be responsible for proposal development. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders across the business, learning the business drivers of your customers to be an important contributor to the completion of solution based proposals to meet customer requirements and budgets. This roles supports the entire project life cycle beyond estimating to deliver on projects on time and on budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with various levels of stakeholders (including management) across the organization including Field, Design, Project Management and Project controls, including outside suppliers in order to complete the estimate.
  • Delivers project estimates based on cost, schedule, quality, and BU objectives.
  • Assist with administering and ensuring the use of estimating processes, procedures, tools, and template.
  • Work independently and with Products Specialists to define project scope requirements, tasks, timelines and costs.
  • Provide support and advice on potential efficiencies and cost savings wherever possible.
  • Create Drawing package with any available photos or drawings with Greenjacket cover-up.
  • Create Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Prepare quotes for various levels of coverage within 3 business days to meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Maintain and update estimating tracker and project schedule.
  • Meet project schedule timelines.
  • Prioritize estimates.
  • Respond to customer on technical issues and questions.
  • Be aware of customer specific standards and apply to related projects

Skills and Experience

  • Relationship builder that is comfortable interacting and working on cross functional teams with a wide variety of work groups and leadership levels.
  • Excellent problem solving, strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Attention to detail, understanding the business and the environment in which it operates.
  • Displays Professional Maturity and business acumen
  • Functional Excellence in Design 
  • Interpret engineering drawings, operation drawings, single line diagrams and other technical documents
  • Broad understanding of electrical or construction systems
  • Drafting knowledge an asset
  • Experience with Estimating tools and best practice
  • Experience with Project Coordination
  • Experience working as part of Project Team and business stakeholders
  • Experience supporting Customers with pre-sales activities and project qualification
  • Experience with Design methodologies an asset

Bachelors Degree
Trade School
