Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Hubbell Engineering in collaboration with Hubbell's global divisions, we accelerate the development of the most impactful technical solutions within Hubbell in fields like smart grid, green power, lighting control, electrical safety, communications and more. We are looking for individuals with experience in one or more of the following: loT, embedded development, wireless communications, cloud computing, cybersecurity and more.

Our Edmonton facility is modern, clean and comfortable. We have an onsite gym with group classes once a week, a large patio with our own garden, lots of green space where we host family BBQs, a beautiful lunchroom and lots of parking. We pride ourselves in having a work environment where everyone can be their whole and best selves. We are located on 11603 and 165 Street in the Westend. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of secure robust hardware and software systems for both critical infrastructure and industrial system applications.
  • Participate in planning, synchronization, demonstration, and retrospective events at the team and program level.
  • Collaborate as part of a cross-functional team, using face-to-face interactions and appropriate tools to effectively communicate, plan, and make work progress visible to others.
  • Capably represent your development team in collaborations with other teams, program staff, and management.
  • Lead technical design and development of small solution components or features.
  • Perform peer review of pull requests and other CI/CD activities.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff in technical and professional practices.

Skills and Experience

What We Like To See

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • 0 to 4+ years of embedded development experience
  • Strong proficiency in C
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Ways To Distinguish Yourself

  • Demonstrable experience in two or more of the following
    • Embedded Linux development: Yocto, U-Boot, Drivers, Application
    • IoT application development
    • IPv4 / IPv6 Networking
    • IoT Cybersecurity
    • CI/CD (Jenkins, pipelines, etc.)
