Job Overview

The Product Manager will lead the strategic direction, development and, for new innovative offerings, the launch of instrument transformer-type products that meet evolving customer and market needs in the electric power industry. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities, defining product requirements, and managing products through the entire product development lifecycle—from concept to commercialization and through sales growth through collaboration with cross-functional teams.

A Day In The Life

  • Identify and evaluate new product opportunities based on market trends, customer feedback, and competitive analysis.
  • Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for new offerings in the instrument transformer space. Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for new offerings in the instrument transformer space.
  • Refresh product vision, strategy, and roadmap for established offerings in the instrument transformer space.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop prototypes and production-ready designs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through stage-gate product development processes.
  • Conduct voice-of-customer (VoC) research and translate insights into actionable product requirements.
  • Ensure products meet industry standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI, IEC) and customer specifications.
  • Develop business cases, ROI analyses, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Lead and support marketing and sales efforts with product pricing, positioning, training, and launch materials.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Product Development, or related field (MBA or advanced technical degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or new product development in the electric power or utility industry.
  • Proven track record of managing and launching successful technical products.
  • Strong understanding of generation, transmission and distribution level equipment and utility applications.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Travel: 10% to 20%.
  • Experience with utility procurement and specification processes.
  • Knowledge of power quality technologies, smart grid technologies and digital substations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
