Job Overview

This position is responsible for setting up and working on grinding machines to grind internal and external cylindrical or tapered surfaces of metal pieces.

A Day In The Life

  • Grind external or internal cylindrical tapered surfaces.
  • Remove metal by the application of abrasives which are bonded to form a rotating wheel.
  • Rough and finish flat, cylindrical, and conical surfaces.
  • Read and interpret charts, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground.
  • Complete all labor tracking requirements scan workorders to track labor and part quantities
  • Collect and assemble required products.
  • Determine grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by Supervisor
  • Willing to work overtime

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • High School diploma or GED. 
  • At least 5 years of Metal Grinding experience. 
  • Ability to read and write English. 
  • Advanced math skills. 
  • Must be able to physically lift 35 lbs.
