Job Overview

Support Chemicals Category Manager in on-going cost-reduction and supply chain resiliency activities.  Engage with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, Quality) to capture material requirements and prospect for suppliers to deliver those requirements.  Learn Category-specific negotiation skills and, in time, assume responsibility for ongoing negotiations of select products and/or product groups.  Advises on options risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts.

 

This is a hybrid role, candidate will preferably live in the Southeast US Region

A Day In The Life

  • Manages day to day category supplier relations and seeks growth or revision opportunities within supply base.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, materials, quality) to capture commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality - partner with regional or business unit sourcing teams as needed 
  • Under the direction of Category Manager assist with developing & executing detailed commodity strategy 
  • Assess Opportunity for commodity including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis 
  • Accountable for execution of sourcing projects including continuous improvement, consolidation, cost take out, etc. 
  • Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection 
  • Responsible for delivering commodity productivity through price negotiations, supporting value analysis/engineering projects (VAE) and other continuous improvement projects. 
  • Support supplier segmentation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and quarterly supplier reviews. 
  • Support commodity continuity of supply - engage with plants (Materials Managers, Buyers, etc.) to help local teams efficiently resolve escalated issues. 
  • Support region/sector NPD Procurement teams through preferred supplier programs and RFQ's. 
  • Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation 
  • Assist with development and presentation of periodic Commodity Reviews including updated projects, metrics, strategy, and countermeasures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field
  • 3 + years procurement sourcing experience, consulting, buyer, and/or analyst experience
  • Demonstrate competence in negotiating skills and assessing vendors.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation and conflict resolution skills
  • Professional communication; both verbal and written are required.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
