Job Overview
The Procurement Superintendent is responsible for leading daily execution of Direct Procurement to ensure uninterrupted material availability, accurate SAP purchasing signals, and strong supplier performance. This role oversees buyers who manage PR‑to‑PO conversion, past-due and delinquent purchase orders, MRP exception handling, master data accuracy, and supplier communication.
A Day In The Life
1. Daily Procurement Execution Leadership
- Lead daily reviews of delinquent POs, late receipts, and shortages.
- Ensure accurate delivery dates and supplier confirmations in SAP.
- Oversee PR‑to‑PO conversion and remove blockers.
- Ensure MRP exceptions are actioned promptly.
- Prioritize Past Due, VIP, and production‑stopping materials
2. Ensure disciplined supplier communication (Taulia or standard channels).
- Lead escalations for suppliers with chronic OTD or capacity issues.
- Partner with Quality on corrective actions.
- Ensure all supplier commitments are reflected accuratel
3. SAP Oversight & Data Governance
- Use: ME2L/ME2M/ME2N, ME57, ME21N, ME23N, ZMM_PO_DETAILS, ZMM_EMR, MD04, MB51.
- Validate master data (lead times, PDT, source list, PIRs, lot sizes).
- Ensure SAP reflects real-world commitments.
4. Inventory, Shortage, and Risk Management
- Lead shortage reviews with Planning, Receiving, Quality, Manufacturing.
- Drive root-cause elimination for recurring shortages.
- Identify risks early and initiate recovery plans.
- Support inventory health and excess/obsolete reduction.
5. Leadership & People Development
- Provide expectations, coaching, and skills development.
- Conduct skill assessments and cross-training planning.
- Promote transparency and timely escalation.
- Reinforce discipline to standard work.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 3–5+ years in direct procurement or MRP execution.
- SAP experience required; Power BI preferred.
