Job Overview

The Senior Manager Operations is responsible for management and oversight of organization policies by performing the following duties either personally or through subordinate supervisors/employees.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

  • Communicate with other functional/departmental managers to understand all necessary aspects of operational development
  • Owns and drives continuous improvement plan on safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity and training
  • Understands/Develops/Drives and Improves Engineering standard work to meet takt time including but not limited to Time observation form, Process Capacity, Work combination sheet, Standard work sheet and Operator loading Chart
  • Works with Materials Manager on SIOP reviews to ensure planning and required Headcount is in place to meet customer demand
  • Drive Tier 3 meetings with multifunctional team and identify, resolve, correct and improve issues impacting the operation
  • Conduct 1:1 reviews with direct reports to align, understand needs and remove roadlocks
  • Manage, escalate and follows company policies and procedures when addressing people issues
  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a wide array of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form
  • The primary measurements of the function are Safety TRIR, Customer complaints, Production efficiency, Earned Hours, and delivery performance; other critical measurements are average production lead-time, inventory accuracy, fill rates and controlling labor costs
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Work closely with other managers on long term capital investment opportunities to increase efficiencies and overall output
  • Owns the process to Work Safely and Builds in Quality on the everyday Operation
  • Analyses data and looks for trends, patters and develops plan to improve operational KPI’s using SAP, Power BI’s

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 15+ years in a manufacturing supervisory role (required)
    • Strong people management skills – Communication, Teamwork, Coaching, Conflict Management driving ownership and accountability
      • Management experience at floor level in either an engineering or manufacturing engineering environment
      • Strong problem solving skills – Fishbone, Ishikawa, Shainin, DMAIC, 6Sigma
      • Use of strong planning and scheduling processes to drive Schedule adherence, On Time Delivery and Prevention/Elimination of Past Due
      • Understanding and use of Standard Work tools – work balance sheet, work combination table, playbook
      • Customer Focus
      • Financial business acumen in absorption and earned hours
      • Strong Daily Floor Management System skills – escalation processes, hour by hour boards, Tier meetings
      • Detailed / data oriented / Data analysis – use of Power BI tools
      • Computer proficiency on Excel, Word and Powepoint
      • SAP knowledge
      • Use of lean tools such as SMED, TPM, KanBan, 5S, Safety, VSM
      • Safety oriented mindset to identify and improve safety opportunities and sustain the wellbeing of our team members
