Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Execution of new and modification of existing off-line programming using CAD based software for multiple applications in heavy welding applications.
  • Implementation of online programming including process development of various processes. Execution, troubleshooting and modification of offline and online laser seam finding.
  • Hands-on verification, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the robotic equipment to ensure weld quality meets or exceeds weld code compliance and production meets or exceeds schedule.
  • Interface with robotic integrator and any other supplier of parts on the robotic system to troubleshoot issues.
  • Teaching/training of technicians and or automation engineers offline and online programming, seam finding technique, etc.
  • Support purchase of new or modifications to existing robotic systems.
  • Recommendation and implementation of robotic system enhancements.
  • Team with production support and shop floor employees to ensure product is meeting or exceeding schedule.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by manager.
Skills and Experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Ability to efficiently program and modify existing programs for arc welding robot applications.
  • Experience working with solid modeling (CAD) programs.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in higher level functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Excellent organizational skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess and apply strong problem-solving skills with an analytical approach and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and efficiently operate multiple steel and aluminum arc welding robotic systems.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently, cross functionally, or part of a team.
  • Possess and apply a broad knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Programming experience on multiple large automated systems
  • Certified Robotic Arc Welding Technician (CRAW-T)
  • 1 year or more experience in robotic industry and/or welding
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Manual and robotic steel and aluminum GMAW/GMAW-P
  • Basic and advanced robotic offline and online training from an accredited organization
  • Ability to effectively work with shop floor employees including a flexibility to adjust work schedule if required. Able to make good fact-based decisions.
