Position Overview

The Production Supervisor provides for the direction and supervision of daily activities of assigned departments to ensure meeting required goals such as safety, production, quality, efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of assigned personnel to achieve predetermined production volume as scheduled consistent with cost and required quality levels
  • Plan work assignments to achieve maximum utilization of manpower, materials, equipment and facilities. Recommends labor requirements and adjustments to the work force
  • Communicate to management any changes or conditions which may affect production
  • Review subordinates and makes recommendations on promotions, transfers, wage adjustments, etc
  • Assure compliance with plant rules, policies, safety standards and good housekeeping
  • Advise Purchasing personnel of quality of products and performance of vendors
  • Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing best practices
  • Collaborate with: 
    • Human Resources concerning employee or labor relations matters
    • Engineering personnel concerning new or revised methods, layouts, processes and equipment to increase operating efficiency, reduce cost or improve quality
    • Material Control personnel concerning production schedules, parts, etc. Provides feedback on status of schedule and needs for change
    • Quality Control personnel concerning the maintenance and interpretation of quality standards
    • Vendors concerning purchased supplies and materials for departments

Skills and Experience

  • High School diploma; Associates Degree or higher is desired
  • Previous production leadership experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment 
  • Knowledge and use of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Experience in supervision of Shipping / Receiving and material stores
