Job Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in pattern and core box design for foundry applications, focusing on both ferrous and non-ferrous castings. The role involves developing and optimizing tool designs using CAD software and simulation tools to ensure quality, manufacturability, and performance.
The Engineer will apply casting knowledge, GD&T standards, and analytical skills to create detailed drawings, improve gating and riser systems, support production troubleshooting, and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time
A Day In The Life
Role and Responsibilities:
· Create part drawings based on ASME Y14.5M – 1994 standards and complete the projects on time.
· Proven experience as a Tool design (pattern/core box) Engineer - preferably follow foundry practice.
· Optimize the gating and riser design based on the simulation result.
· Interact with Customers to understand their requirements.
· Update applicable reports in a timely manner
· Good Team player - Develop good interaction with the Team lead and team members.
· Interaction with customers to understand their functional specifications.
· Should be able to perform with tolerance and GD&T in design as well as in Manufacturing Drawings.
· Should have good behavioral & collaboration skills to work with a cross-functional team (CFT).
· Should have good communication and documentation skills.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Minimum 6+ yrs. Experience in Foundry Pattern (Ferrous & Non-Ferrous) and Core box Design & Mold flow Analysis using any one of the simulation software’s
Knowledge in Castings and Foundry process (High pressure molding or Jolt line)
Should have working knowledge in Autodesk inventor/Solid works & AutoCAD
Magma/ Flow 3D Cast flow simulation software skill Any other
· Knowledge of Casting design, manufacturing and quality standard · Tool design based on casting process and manufacturing feasibility. · Basic Electrical Knowledge. · Part Modelling & detailing with GD&T. · Troubleshooting on sand casting tools to achieve part quality. · Good communication, Mathematical Skills, and Reasoning ability.
