Job Overview

 

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our existing products while implementing necessary product and process improvements and resolving any emerging issues.

MTech – Power systems / B. Tech – Mechanical engineering

Minimum 6 to 8 Yrs

Minimum 5 years’ experience in product design and sustaining engineering

A Day In The Life

 

  • Interact with US counterparts to gather requirements related to purchase order to create a sub/trans/distribution switch assembly per the end utility requirement.
  • Create conceptual 3d model, detailed design, unit outlines and sales order drawing for the wide range of switchgear products following ASME, GD&T standards.
  • Designing parts that are feasible for manufacturing process like plastics, casting, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Validate the integrity of the design through FEA analysis.
  • Set realistic targets and assist the sustaining engineering team to meet the deadlines set by the customer.
  • Create necessary documentation, part drawings, engineering bill of materials and assembly drawings as per Hubbell standard.
  • Take ownership and drive EC/ETO, sales order and unit outline tasks from beginning to completion stage.
  • Support for the adoption of model-based definition roll-out.
  • Create macros and apply automation to automate the routine tasks like downloading group of drawings/documents from SAP and vault.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management, to assist in shop floor issues.

What will help you thrive in this role?

 

  • Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering concepts and knowledge in engineering materials.
  • Expertise in using all the features of 2D & 3D engineering design using Autodesk inventor and SolidWorks.
  • Proficient in creating drawings based on ASME Y14.5 standard.
  • Good understanding and proficiency in GD&T and tolerance stack-up studies.
  • Working knowledge in SAP ECM or any PLM software is mandatory.
  • Hand on experience in Autodesk vault and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Basic knowledge in performing & interpreting the results of structural and static FEA.
  • Basic knowledge in DFM and DFMA.
  • Hand on experience in modeling and detailing of casting, sheet metal and plastic parts and its related manufacturing process.
  • Hands on experience in SAP-Production T-codes and knowledge on BOM creation, routing changes and costing the part.
  • Knowledge of phyton, VBA programming for design and CAD automation.
  • MS office tools, Power BI, Power automate.
