Job Overview

The primary purpose of the Purchasing Supervisor is to oversee and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing department for Centralia based business units. This role is responsible for leading the team of buyers, ensuring that procurement activities align with corporate goals, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to achieve optimal cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

A Day In The Life

    • Develop and execute strategic purchasing plans that align with Hubbell’s overall objectives.
    • Maintain strong, effective relationships with suppliers and manage supplier performance to ensure compliance with agreed-upon standards and expectations.
    • Utilize SAP software for inventory management, ensuring materials are ordered and stocked at optimal levels to support production and operational continuity.
    • Work with the Corporate Sourcing Team to improve supplier’s performance and reduce costs
    • Implement cost-reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing and procurement practices.
    • Lead continuous improvement efforts in the purchasing process.
    • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and Hubbell policies.
    • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that purchased products meet or exceed the quality standards required by Hubbell.
    • Monitor and improve supplier on-time delivery.
    • Work closely with Marketing, Engineering, Planning, and Production to ensure material is purchased to the correct requirements and when needed.

What will help you thrive in this role?

    • BS Degree in Business or related field; SAP experience; MRP Knowledge; proficient in Microsoft applications, well developed presentation skills
    • 5-7 years purchasing experience and 1-3 years supervising others
