Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Provide overall product leadership and management of assigned product lines related to the Lineman Tools & Equipment Business Unit.  Generate new product ideas and follow through with their development, which will include establishing policies for pricing, promotion, and training materials. Provide direction and develop direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and execute business and marketing plans for promotion, expansion and improvement of existing products and development of new markets.
  • Assist sales and customer service on product application, customer issues, and customer opportunities.
  • Manage and develop direct reports.
  • Responsible for new product development to include generating new product ideas and specifications based on voice of customer (VOC) and market needs, providing sound business cases, leading project teams, assisting with pricing, product application, and product changes.
  • Guide new product development launch including marketing plans and launch materials
  • Build and maintain relationships with key distributors and end users, sales, customer service, engineering, planning and operations, and other departments.
  • Provide input on pricing of quotes, weekly and monthly forecasting, annual business plan, and 3- year strategic plan.
  • Provide product updates and other communications to the sales team.
  • Periodically travel with the HPS sales force to make joint customer calls.
  • Attend trade shows, sales training schools, industry meetings, etc. to support the knowledge of assigned product lines.
  • Provide detailed product training to HPS customers, distributors and sales representatives for assigned product lines

Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Marketing/Business Administration (or a related field of study)
  • Experience partnering with technical product marketing or other product management experience 
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product marketing and new product development
  • 3+ years in a management position with direct reports
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel on business related trips up to 20% 
  • Ability to communicate technical requirements to both technical and nontechnical audiences


  • MBA
  • Exposure to the electrical distribution or utility sales channel
