Job Overview
The Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing material-related initiatives to support operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and supply continuity across the Centralia facility. This role leads to physical inventory improvements, manages material master data updates, and partners cross-functionally with Operations, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering to support production readiness. Serving as a key contact for product line recovery, the Material Coordinator drives actions to resolve material shortages, supplier issues, and scheduling constraints. The workload for this position is highly dynamic and driven by the most urgent needs of the plant, requiring the ability to quickly reprioritize structured improvement initiatives and real-time production support while ensuring alignment across teams and delivering measurable results.
A Day In The Life
- Coordinate and lead material-related projects, including physical inventory improvements and SAP material master data initiatives.
- Manage physical inventory activities and drive process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy, execution efficiency, and compliance.
- Maintain and update material master data, including forecasting parameters, lead times, safety stock levels, and planning settings.
- Support initiatives that improve inventory control, material planning effectiveness, and overall supply chain performance.
- Ensure material planning system settings accurately reflect current operational requirements and business needs.
- Partner with Operations, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering teams to align material strategies with production schedules and customer requirements.
- Identify root causes of material and inventory issues and implement corrective actions to improve performance and reliability.
- Facilitate communication among stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, risks, and project deliverables.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts to support both long-term continuous improvement initiatives and immediate plant operational needs.
- Identify opportunities for standardization, process optimization, and continuous improvement within inventory management and material planning functions.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate reports, metrics, and status updates related to material initiatives, inventory performance, and project progress.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in materials, planning, inventory management, or manufacturing operations.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred), including material master data and planning parameters.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives and driving execution across multiple departments.
- Experience supporting production recovery, shortage resolution, or supply chain issue management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
