Job Overview

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing raw materials and components required to support production within the Business Unit. This position ensures supplier performance, timely deliveries, accurate pricing, and alignment with organizational inventory goals. The Buyer works closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Accounts Payable, and suppliers to maintain uninterrupted supply flow and support the overall material strategy.

A Day In The Life

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Maintain and update records related to cost, supplier delivery performance, and material quality.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order information, including pricing and lead times, in SAP (PIR).
  • Work with suppliers to resolve delivery issues, rejections, and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Expedite raw materials and components as needed to support production.
  • Participate in make‑vs‑buy evaluations and sourcing decisions.

 Cross-Functional Coordination & Issue Resolution

  • Work closely with Planning and Manufacturing to support inventory goals and production needs.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Production to manage nonconforming materials.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice issues.

System Accuracy & Data Integrity

  • Maintain accurate data within the Purchasing Information Record (PIR)
  • Support identification and disposition of obsolete materials with Operations and Planning.

 Continuous Improvement & Process Discipline

  • Assist in annual physical inventory.
  • Recommend improvements to purchasing processes to support cost, delivery, and inventory performance.

Expected Outcomes

  • Reliable and uninterrupted supply of raw materials and components.
  • Accurate purchase order data supporting MRP and production planning.
  • Improved supplier performance through proactive communication and issue resolution.
  • Reduced material shortages and improved on‑time delivery from suppliers.
  • Stronger alignment between Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Experience with SAP preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open issues.
