Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Associate Facilities Engineer will assist in maintaining, repairing, and renovating buildings and grounds on 76-acre campus with 1,000,000 sq. ft. of floor space. Assist in managing Mobile Maintenance department consisting of two mechanics and 125+ pieces of equipment including forklifts, utility carts, cars, trucks, and miscellaneous equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering contracts for janitorial, security, land care & maintenance, pest control
  • Assist in managing copier/printer leases
  • Maintain 2-D drawings of campus and plant layouts
  • Track and analyze monthly utility usage and assist in preparing annual utility budgets
  • Track and analyze trash disposal, items recycled, and other usages
  • Coordinate annual inspections of pressure vessels, boilers, elevators, backflow valves, etc.
  • Track and analyze repairs and maintenance of mobile equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate options, and implement best solutions for various facility issues as they occur.
  • Obtain proposals, coordinate, and oversee contractors and vendors to maintain, repair, and renovate buildings, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems across the Centralia campus.
  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of facilities to determine what installation or repair service needs performed, request project approval and manage project to completion. 
  • Manage services contracted to outside vendors. 
  • Address various facility related issues that arise.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering; Civil or Mechanical preferred
  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Experience with facilities and operation of buildings would be helpful
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in an internship or Co-op would be helpful 
  • Ability to navigate multiple surfaces across campus (pavement, gravel, grass), ability to climb ladders/stairs to access roofs; ability to communicate technical requirements to both technical and nontechnical individuals
  • Ability to work on a PC or other related equipment as required.
