Job Overview

Responsible operation of CNC Lathe or Mill machines assigned to produce quality parts, conforming to design specifications or approved deviations.  This includes the ability to learn HMI navigation for basic machine functions, change machine tools, read blueprints, and use measuring devices.  Additional responsibility includes leading or participating in daily autonomous maintenance and continuous improvements in safety, quality, and productivity. 

A Day In The Life

 

  • Safely operate CNC Lathe or Milling machines to produce good quality parts at the expected production rate.
  • Able to learn machine HMI to run parts as well as performing tool changes and manual adjustments for part alignment.
  • Able to read part print/drawing and perform quality inspection on machined parts with use of proper measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and thread gages.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including OSHA training, safety attire and PPE, LOTO, and Hazardous Materials Handling.
  • Participate in safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives as applicable.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization by 6S methodology and autonomous maintenance work practice.
  • Follow all written and verbal instructions to perform work correctly, including administrative and logistical processes such as production paperwork, scrap logs, reject counts, and part quantity weight count.

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
  • General understanding of basic machine operation, tooling, and work holding components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to learn.
  • Basic analytical skills and ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Strong and respectful work ethics, taking responsibility for own actions and discipline, with commitment to attendance, teamwork, and general work rules.
