Position Overview

We are seeking a Development Tools Engineer to work with our development teams. This role is responsible for developing and operating infrastructure to enable our Agile development teams to work effectively, including build systems, continuous integration/continuous delivery systems (CI/CD), test automation systems, and process automation tools. This role will work with other tools and test automation engineers and collaborate with several Agile teams in meeting their delivery goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate source control, build, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and test systems for everyday use by our developers.
  • Integrate build and CI/CD systems with issue trackers, ALM, and other reporting tools.
  • Create custom tools, add-ons, and automations in order to improve the capabilities of our product development teams.
  • Ensure the stability, availability, and performance of the development infrastructure through effective operational maintenance and monitoring practices.
  • Implement appropriate security patterns in developed infrastructure, including encryption of communications and storage as needed, and role-based access to services.
  • Continuously identify and recommend improvements to the infrastructure.
  • Support the Agile teams using the development infrastructure through effective and responsive communication.
  • Work within an Agile team developing tools or test infrastructure, sharing responsibility with your development team members and collaborating with your Product Owner to order the work to be done.
  • Participate in SAFe and Scrum team and program events, including planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including automation, measurement, and a "shift left" approach to development.
  • Experience with Linux system configuration and administration
  • Experience with shell scripting and common Linux command-line tools
  • Experience developing software using C/C++ and Python
  • Experience with one or more build tools such as Gradle, CMake, or make
  • Experience developing, extending, and maintaining CI/CD systems, particularly using Jenkins and git
  • Experience with managements of virtual machines and containers, particularly using Docker
  • Experience with release management practices
  • Experience with AWS services and deployment of code and infrastructure in cloud environments
  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of development experience, preferably using Agile methodologies
  • Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®)
  • Experience with complex systems development, including hardware/firmware
  • Experience developing and configuring software tools and scripts running on macOS
  • Experience with Objective-C, Swift, Node.js, and/or Java
  • Experience with Xcode, Android Studio, and/or Eclipse IDEs


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
