Position Overview

This position will be responsible for planning, directing and managing all environmental, safety, and training programs for Aurora, IL facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of 3 trainers.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with state, federal, local, and company safety regulations.
  • Develop and coordinate safety programs, materials, and training to employees as needed.
  • Employee introduction and orientation to Regional Distribution Center (RDC) Safety rules, practices and procedures.
  • Test employees’ proficiency and issue operating licenses for powered industrial equipment.
  • Orient employees to the physical layout of the facility and understanding of RDC terminology.
  • Demonstrate all processes and procedures for warehouse activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement and growth through cross-training employees.
  • Through observation/audits, evaluate all warehouse employees as to their proficiency and understanding in performing warehouse tasks.
  • Coordinate and Lead DC Lean projects.
  • Support Management in implementation of new processes and procedures.
  • Organize meetings with management and Human Resources before preparing course materials to ensure a detailed understanding of training subjects and processes.
  • Conduct regular meetings with senior management to identify subjects to be addressed or areas in need of additional instruction.
  • Must be able to be flexible and provide backup coverage for Warehouse Supervisors during vacation and/or leaves of abscences. 

Skills and Experience

  • Results Driven – Must evaluate, assess, develop and implement environmental program and safety compliance programs.  Must have ability to create, drive and implement processes and gain agreement. 
  • Communication – Strong ability to communicate effectively (oral/written/presentation form) with all levels of the organization and with external organizations.
  • Analytical – Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, using facts and data.
  • Team Building – Must be able to constructively resolve conflict, direct non-reports and direct reports, and coordinate activities at multiple locations and within multiple functions
  • Warehouse background with knowledge of recieving and shipping is desired.
