Job Overview
The Facilities Supervisor is primarily responsible for creating and maintaining the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program in Aurora and security of the building including keycard access and video surveillance systems. The Facilities Supervisor will also establish relationships with third party contractors for the preventative maintenance of the material handling fleet, doors and docks, heating and cooling, MRO vending, fire safety, pest control and other building related services. The Facilities Supervisor is accountable for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the facility and equipment. The Facility Supervisor will ensure employees and guests can enter and exit the building in a safe manner and work with landlords and their representatives to ensure compliance to leasehold agreements. All required training and documentation to support the program will be a deliverable for the facility team. The Facility Supervisor will also act as a backup and provide cover for the shift supervisors when required. This position will also rotate with other supervisors to provide support on weekends when others are on vacation.
A Day In The Life
- Utilize direct reports to fulfil the daily/weekly/monthly requirements of the safety and security programs.
- Ensure safety issues are addressed at start up meetings.
- Plan and execute Gemba walks and kaizen events.
- Update keycard access based on new hires and terminated employees.
- Conduct weekly shift meetings.
- Interact with the DC manager, Assistant DC Manager and facility managers and supervisors to establish goals and objectives.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding DC operations.
- Generate weekly efficiently/productivity reports, as well as other distribution reports as needed.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or comparable job experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of distribution experience in warehouse or manufacturing plant.
- Intermediate skills in MS Excel, such as creating graphs and charts.
- Intermediate skills in MS Word such as using tables, columns and breaks, graphics, fields, headers and footers, working with margins, page orientation, and spelling/grammar. Intermediate skills in MS PowerPoint.
- Previous Safety/EHS experience preferred.
- Previous Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
