Position Overview

Hubbell is seeking a Senior Strategy Manager to strengthen our position in the Hubbell Harsh and Heavy Industrial (HHI) business unit. A highly visible role positioned in the HHI business groups and brands for improved alignments, innovation, products and markets as a key consultant for business leaders. The candidate will excel at data-driven decisions that build long-term business value for HHI. Analyzing our competitive landscape, track and interpret critical industry trends, structure financial analyses, assist in critical M&A sourcing and projects (domestic/international), and overall responsibility for the development and implementation the commercial strategy for HHI.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Strategy

To lead the development of long-term organizational strategy for HHI. With the objective of having a single, defined approach which provides the organization with successful, cohesive, functional, and collaborative commercial functions throughout the business unit.

  • Aligning departmental goals, processes, and resource allocation with the organizational strategy and develop mid- and long-term strategy for SBU and its businesses
  • Assessing market trends and competitors.  Identifying threats and opportunities.
  • Planning, implementing, and managing proposed recommendations and projects. Along with monitoring and reporting on the progress made on these activities.
  • Supporting and guiding senior management decision-making processes.
  • Host regular calls with Senior HHI Management team to establish a sales forecast down to product level that will drive expected demand.
  • Monitor, identify, evaluate acquisition targets and own and lead the process.

 

  1. Innovation

Instrumental in shaping the processes needed for keeping forward momentum going and analyzing new technologies and approaches to development for the HHI business unit.

  • Partner collaboratively in defining strategic priorities and innovation roadmap including markets, growth drivers, portfolio of products and projects and capabilities needed to support this growth.
  • Conducting research and analyses of operational effectiveness, processes, stakeholders, etc.
  • Research and model end user project activity to provide fact-based reference points for use in collating the sales forecast and annual operating plans.
  • Develop thought leadership on emerging trends in the Electrical segments market and recommend new and/or add-on products, technologies, or markets.

 

  1. Pricing

To ensure the strategic pricing function supports the rest of the business in terms of planning, accurate forecasting, strategic direction, and profitable sales growth.  Regular strategic reviews should take place and report on performance as an integrated part of our business management process.

  • Develop pricing strategies and respond to competitive market dynamics to meet company goals.
  • Implement price adjustments to drive price realization to cover cost impacts. 
  • Facilitate communication among Business Units, Customer Service, and Sales regarding strategic bids, trends, and profitability related to pricing decisions and actions. 
  • Deliver communication to external industry stakeholders regarding pricing actions.
  • Evaluate market conditions, competitor actions, and cost changes that influence strategic pricing decisions.
  • Lead analysis around all aspects of pricing such as estimating volume impacts due to changes in price, promotions, competitive response etc.
  • Lead the integration of internal and external data to drive better understanding on decisions at the business level such as financial and commodities.

 

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field (Strategy, International Business, Marketing. MBA preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in business administration, management consulting or strategic planning.
  • Proven experience in strategic consulting (for example - BCG, McKinsey, Bain, Deloitte, KPMG, EY) or an internal Corporate Strategy role within a F500 company, private equity, venture capital, investment management, corporate strategy, corporate development; or prior experience at a high-growth.
  • Proven experience in private equity field a plus.
  • Demonstrated M&A and Restructuring experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Outstanding analytical, research, and quantitative skills.
  • Highly analytical with sound business judgment and strong technical skills to process large quantities of data.
  • The ability to execute on and lead projects with minimal mentorship while maintaining a high level of detail.
  • Strong Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office and other PC application skills. Advanced Excel skills are required. SAP and Power BI are the business software used daily.
  • Proven track record to collaborate with stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of finance principles.
  • Comfort with reading and using financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statements).
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel modeling skills.
  • Knowledge of data retrieval/analysis tools.
  • Ability for travel 15-25%
