Division Overview

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor oversees and manages production shift employees to ensure the production of company products at the highest quality and lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Compliance with safety and housekeeping standards is also critical.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the training, cross-training and coaching of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, quantity, and safety.
  • Oversee shift production support personnel, such as Quality and Maintenance, and coordinates with their managers as needed.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure efficient operations.
  • Approve vacation schedules and timecards.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, and issues disciplinary measures if necessary (warnings, write-ups, terminations, etc.), in coordination with HR.
  • Interview potential employees for open positions.
  • Maintain knowledge of processes and equipment.
  • Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
  • Ensure that products are identified, weighed, and warehoused correctly.
  • Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Notify maintenance department of equipment problems.
  • Ensure that employees comply with departmental housekeeping standards and applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform accident investigations and recommends actions to prevent reoccurrences of problems.
  • Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and orders as necessary.
  • Ensure all production paperwork, quality records, etc., are completed and signed correctly and/or entered online as required.
  • Communicate with various groups (materials, engineering, test, quality, etc.) to ensure on time shipment of customer orders.
  • Spend 80% of shift on the production floor, in assigned departments. 
  • Support Lean and plant-wide Safety initiatives.

Skills and Experience


  • Bachelors Degree 
  • 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Solid understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Able to work with all levels of operational and professional staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs


  • Experience with Kaizen and Lean training 
  • SAP experience
