Position Overview
The Finance Manager serves as a key member of the Hubbell Electrical Solutions (HES) finance team supporting sites within the Harsh & Heavy Industrial (HHI) SBU. This role reports to the HHI Controller and interfaces regularly with the local management team, SBU and segment controllership and operational finance team. The Finance Manager will be responsible for timely and accurate closing, operational metrics to drive performance & ensuring a strong control environment at the facility. This role partners with the Accounting, Operations and HR functions to ensure the delivery of value-added analytical support to be applied by the management team in making routine decisions and in setting near and long-term strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading timely and accurate month end close process in alignment with segment and corporate controllership. This includes preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis & controls environment
- Prepare monthly income statement and balance sheet flux analysis
- Analyze and make assessments of financial statements and related metrics
- Effectively synthesize and communicate the ‘underlying story behind the numbers’
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the manufacturing processes and cost accounting structure to analyze and discuss operational performance including metrics and dashboards
- Play a significant role in the development of monthly operational forecasts, annual plans, and longer-term strategic plans
- Ensure strong control environment and oversee local key controls testing, compliance and applying continuous improvement methodology into internal controls and financial reporting
- Effectively communicate financial information to non-financial managers
- Efficiently obtain, organize and transform data in Excel, Business Intelligence and related applications
- Work across all levels of the organization and effectively communicate to influence change
- Complete ad hoc financial information requests and various special projects as needed
- Partner with SBU leadership on growth initiatives, NPD & acquisitions
- Assist with the financial integration of newly acquired businesses
- Effectively interact with Hubbell stakeholders in person and remotely via video conference using company provided equipment
- Travel as necessary and within reason to Hubbell & related sites within and outside of the US
Skills and Experience
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills. Must present confidently to an audience composed of Sr. Management.
- Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office experience including Excel and PowerPoint. Mid-to-large scale ERP system experience, (SAP a plus). Experience with OneStream, Hyperion or similar financial reporting/consolidations software is preferred.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
