Job Overview

The Quality Supervisor provides front-line leadership for plant quality assurance and quality control activities. This position ensures that incoming materials, manufacturing processes, and finished products meet customer, engineering, regulatory, and quality management system requirements. The supervisor leads daily inspection priorities, develops team capability, drives disciplined problem solving, and partners with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and EHS to prevent recurrence and improve manufacturing performance. 

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

Lead, schedule, and prioritize the daily work of quality technicians, inspectors, and other assigned quality personnel across incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.

· Provide clear shift direction, workload balance, coaching, cross-training, and escalation support to maintain effective quality coverage for production needs.

· Ensure inspections and tests are completed to current drawings, specifications, control plans, work instructions, sampling plans, and customer requirements.

· Authorize product hold, containment, segregation, and escalation when material or product does not meet requirements; ensure identification and traceability are maintained.

· Coordinate timely review and disposition of nonconforming material with authorized functions and verify that required records are complete and accurate.

· Lead or support structured root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action using methods such as 5 Why, fishbone, 8D, DMAIC, or equivalent problem-solving tools.

· Verify corrective action implementation and effectiveness; identify repeat issues and elevate systemic risks to plant leadership.

· Support customer complaint investigations, warranty concerns, returns, and corrective action responses by gathering facts, validating failure modes, and tracking commitments.

· Partner with suppliers and Supply Chain on incoming quality issues, supplier corrective actions, containment, and verification of improved performance.

· Maintain readiness for internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits; support audit execution and closure of findings.

· Ensure measuring and test equipment is suitable, available, identified, protected, and within calibration; coordinate action for equipment found out of tolerance.

· Monitor plant quality performance, including scrap, rework, first-pass yield, defects, complaints, audit findings, and corrective action status; communicate risks and trends.

· Facilitate layered process audits, product audits, process checks, and quality-focused daily management activities as assigned.

· Support new product introduction and process changes through risk reviews, first article inspection, PPAP/APQP activities, control plans, PFMEA, gauge studies, and capability analysis, as applicable.

· Promote standard work, 5S, lean manufacturing, built-in quality, and continuous improvement throughout the plant.

· Ensure quality records are legible, accurate, retained, and controlled in accordance with the quality management system and document control requirements.

· Maintain a safe work environment and ensure assigned employees follow all safety, environmental, and plant rules.

· Perform other duties consistent with the role and business needs.
