Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for the financial analysis of manufacturing operations including conversion variances, material variances, and freight analysis. This role reports directly to the Director of FP&A within a matrix organization, and partners closely with the VP of Operations to drive operational improvements. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with end goals in mind and contribute as a valued member of the FP&A team. You will also handle developing, executing, and analyzing financial reports/models that aid in the decision making of the company. This high-profile role will also provide strategic financial planning and analysis activities that support the Annual Operating Plan and provide timely and accurate reporting of business unit operational metrics.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with financial and operational leadership to gather, reconcile, and organize financial information
  • Analyze, consolidate, interpret, and clearly communicate financial data for actuals, forecasts, and budgets
  • Evaluate operational metrics and trends including inventory metrics, conversion variance analysis, material variance analysis, and freight analysis by mode
  • Use financial models to extract and validate data throughout the segment entity reporting structure
  • Develop financial and operational reports and models using SAP, Hyperion, OneStream, and Excel
  • Month end responsibilities include validation and consolidation of actual results, completing and distributing financial reports, and analyzing financial and operational data
  • Support headcount planning and organizational cost structure analytics, emphasizing departmental spend
  • Assist in the creation of various operating and financial presentations for senior management
  • Perform active analysis of operating costs, identifying key drivers, metrics, and variations
  • Partner with operational leadership to craft capital requests including the calculation of potential returns
  • Other ad hoc requests/special projects consistent with HPS and company objectives
  • This position may require the ability to travel ~20% of the time to support the VP of Operations

Skills and Experience

  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years financial analysis and/or accounting experience
  • Proficient in MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • SAP, Hyperion, and / or OneStream experience a big plus
  • Drive efficiency and process improvement
  • MBA or CMA is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization – shop floor to Vice Presidents - is critical to success in this role
  • Hands-on experience within a manufacturing setting is highly desirable
