Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Duties and Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Conduct research and development utilizing various resins, polymers, chemicals, paint, and/or aggregate to gather information that could be utilized to formulate cost take out and/or process enhancement opportunities for various new products or existing products.    

 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess existing materials commonly available and/or develop new materials to improve material cost position and/or in the support of new product development
  • Assess existing materials and make recommendations to improve performance and/or manufacturability of existing products in various environments
  • Help define and execute product development strategies
  • Evaluate competitive products
  • Develop relationships with outside research companies and institutions to leverage knowledge base in the support of product development strategies

 

Skills and Experience
  • Baccalaureate degree in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) with an emphasis on resins and chemicals.
  • 3 to 8 years experience in a related field. 
  • Proficiency in materials science.
Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering General or Other Technology
