Job Overview
The Materials Analyst I is responsible for utilizing data to perform analytical problem solving to support Hubbell’s production and operational goals. This position involves data analysis, collaborating across departments, and employing data acumen and quantitative measures to maintain an effective inventory system while seeking opportunities for cost savings and process improvement. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, accurate material requirements planning (MRP), and timely availability of materials while minimizing cost, waste, and risk. The Materials Analyst works closely with planning, procurement, production, finance, and logistics teams to support operational efficiency and supply chain performance.

A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:
- Analyzing inventory levels and consumption patterns to optimize stock levels and minimize waste
- Maintain SAP Material Master Data values to optimize and harmonize operational effectiveness
- Collaboration with procurement and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials
- Monitoring supplier performance, negotiating contracts, and seeking opportunities for cost savings
- Utilizing data analysis tools and software to generate reports and insights for decision making
- Analyze material demand, usage trends, and forecasts to support production schedules and customer requirements.
- Maintain and optimize inventory levels to balance availability, cost, and working capital goals.
- Create material requirements planning (MRP) outputs / reports
- Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and delivery reliability; identify and escalate risks.
- Investigate shortages, excess inventory, and obsolescence; recommend corrective actions.
- Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Develop and maintain material-related reports, dashboards, and KPIs (e.g., transactional volumes, on time performance, operational health metrics).
- Collaborate with procurement on sourcing strategies, supplier changes, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Work with production and engineering teams to support new product introductions, BOM accuracy, and change management.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within materials and supply chain processes.

- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred
- 1+ year experience (required)
- Proven experience in materials analysis, inventory management, or supply chain operations
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, ERP systems)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable conclusions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across departments
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and problem solving
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
