Job Overview

Provide daily hands-on manufacturing engineering support to the Reuel Business Unit in Aiken SC.   The Reuel BU uses a pressure gelation process to mold epoxy resin in the creation of electric components and equipment for a variety of utility applications.   This position will support all aspects of the operations by developing and implementing tooling, machine, process, assembly, and testing improvements focused on continuously improving safety, quality, manufacturing efficiency, and reliability.

A Day In The Life

  • Develops new manufacturing processes and improves existing systems by; studying product requirements; applying knowledge of product/tooling materials/design, fabrication, assembly, and testing; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Supports Reuel design team in new product launches, with responsibility for developing all manufacturing fixtures and equipment.
  • Manage capital projects from start to completion including writing AFEs (Authority For Expenditure).
  • Keeps tooling and equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. 
  • Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs and entering data.
  • Monitors production scrap, analyzing data/trends to determine causes and implementing corrective actions to improve productivity.
  • Provides training and guidance to Reuel technicians and support personnel. 
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a lean, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) for fixture and equipment design.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with resin-transfer molding.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and/or computer programming.
