Job Overview

Impulse and 60 Hz electric testing of lightning arresters on an as needed basis. Performs equipment calibrations on test equipment. Recording of test results and filling out test reports.

  • Understanding & respect for very high voltages & high energy storage for both personal & equipment safety.
  • Understanding of grounding practices & principles.
  • Basic understanding of electric & magnetic fields & their effects on EMI and signals.
  • Understanding of Voltage, Current, Resistance, Passive Energy Storage & their relationships.
  • Understands & practices electrical safety rules & concepts

A Day In The Life

  • Ability to use Excel for recording data, generating test reports, & general data storage.
  • Will be moving heavy objects with the aid of dollies & hand trucks. Use of short ladders/moving stairs.
  • Must not have an aversion to working in a hot and dirty environment
  • Physically able to meet all requirements for Impulse & 60 Hz Test Cages.
  • Must have interpersonal skills, be flexible, adaptable, self-directed, & assertive
  • Responsible for troubleshooting all faults/system issues
  • Report any problems/issues to the Supervisor.
  • Other duties as required by the Management
  • Complete Excel test with at least 70%

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Fluent in basic electrical concepts:
  • Ability to use an oscilloscope & digital multimeter.
  • Understanding of the basic characteristics of MOV materials is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability with Algebra, basic Calculus a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude a plus.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Windows & using network storage.
  • File management skills & understanding of directory structures.
