Job Overview

Under the direction of the Manager Business Line (“BUM”), this position performs a full spectrum of assignments related to the achievement of manufacturing goals through the application and sustainment of lean manufacturing techniques, effective supervision and training of manufacturing personnel. Coordinates production, quality, and materials activities so that manufactured products meet quality, service, and cost standards and objectives.  Responsible for ensuring compliance with quality product certifications: Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and compliance with the established Quality System as required by the International Standardization Organization 9001:2015.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree in Business or Engineering 
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of supervisory and manufacturing related professional or technical experience. 
  • Good Spanish communication skills, written and verbal, are required.  
  • Personal computers hardware & applications knowledge is required.  SAP practical knowledge, is a plus.   
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish written, and verbal communication skills is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to Quality Improvement Processes and/or Programs, i. e. SIX SIGMA, quality product certifications (UL), (CSA), and quality system certification (ISO)
  • Exposure to manufacturing techniques, i. e. KANBAN, KAIZEN, etc. 
  • Critical Thinking using logic and reasoning to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Management of Personnel Resources motivating, developing and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.

A Day In The Life

  • Implements and adheres to production schedules to maintain on-time delivery of orders. Along with other Business Unit exempt peers prevents, and implements corrective actions to avoid, reduce or eliminate manufacturing problems, i.e. materials and parts shortages, machinery and equipment downtime, capacity limitations, quality non-conformance’s, etc.
  • Responsible for the efficiency of the assigned personnel, individually and as a group, and overall efficiency of the product lines or work units under his/her supervision.  Responsible for the proper utilization of the supervised human resources by assuring those are assigned to perform the duties required by the corresponding manufacturing process.  Accountable for the proper utilization of machinery and equipment assuring that is safely operated and maintained properly. 
  • Responsible for the implementation, sustainment, and continued improvement of the assigned area(s) through lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Responsible for securing the Quality System integrity and for the implementation, execution, and compliance of the Hubbell Caribe Limited (“HCL”) Quality Manual procedures within the area(s) under his supervision.
  • Particular to Superviosr role:  Recommends hiring, promotions, special merit wage increases, disciplinary actions, suspensions, and termination of supervised personnel.  Responsible for the timely completion, revision, and discussion of job description /job instructions, discipline documentation, and performance appraisals.  Responsible for the assigned personnel absenteeism ratio.  Initiates, completes, and discusses absenteeism disciplinary actions.  Approves personnel vacations, and personal leaves.  Responsible for delivers and trains personnel on the proper use of protective equipment, ensures personnel compliance to safety policies, procedures, and rules, audits his assigned area(s) to identify hazards, recommends and initiates corrective actions, as required.  Communicates, interprets policies, procedures, and rules to his assigned personnel.
