Job Overview
The Vice President, Strategy – HUS reports to the President of Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) and will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction, growth initiatives, and business outcomes of our segment. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to enhance our market position, drive revenue growth, and ensure long-term sustainability. The VP, Strategy - HUS will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to identify new market opportunities, optimize existing operations, and lead strategic projects.
The preferred candidate should possess strong technical, analytical, communication and program leadership skills, entrepreneurial traits, and experience leading complex interdisciplinary programs with technical deliverables; along with a passion to contribute to a hands-on role with a dynamic range of projects.
A Day In The Life
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the segment's strategic plan in the Utility segment, aligning with the overall enterprise objectives and market trends. Aid in driving Strategic Business Unit and Business Unit strategies.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and potential risks. Recommend new and/or complementary products or technologies that better the HUS market position.
- Business Development: Assess potential M&A targets and their fit within the segment. Work alongside Corporate, SBU/BU functional teams during initial phases of evaluation and help drive diligence and integration.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with various departments, including marketing, finance, operations, and technology, to ensure the successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Support vertical market, channel initiatives and government relations: Research and socialize market trends, opportunities, and anticipated risks. Support strategic vertical market initiatives, identify partnerships and/or open innovation collaboration opportunities (corporate, academic, governmental, industry associations), and federal funding and policy impacts.
- Innovation: Work alongside the HUS Technology team to foster a culture of innovation within the organization, encouraging the development of new ideas and solutions to enhance our services and operations. Promote collaboration in developing interoperable and accretive product ecosystems and solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, regulators, and industry partners.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in senior level strategic planning, business development, or related roles within the utility industry.
- Proven track record of leading successful strategic initiatives and driving business growth across commercial, M&A, product development, and technology teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Self-reliant, resourceful, creative thinker with acumen in executing strategic business decisions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing senior executives and stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to travel 50% of the time or more, to attend internal and external customer meetings, trade shows, etc.
