Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting Aclara SGS project accounting; including expenditure management, warehouse lease data, vehicle and project cost data, as well as supporting period close for financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Code purchase orders and invoices to projects and account codes; submit into ERP system through scanning tools.
  • New vendor set up in corporate systems; includes gathering and reviewing required documents to ensure compliance with company requirements. 
  • Maintain current certificate of insurance documentation; interface with vendors and corporate insurance team.
  • Prepare requisitions for purchase order creation. 
  • Process claim check requests and ensure support documentation is received and is in compliance with requirements.
  • Track and process monthly rent and utility payments for project warehouses. 
  • Analyze fleet costs and ensure accurate project allocation; provide reporting to finance partners and senior leadership.
  • Perform month-end close routines including journal entry preparation, project cost allocation, estimate and accrual of monthly project costs. 
  • Maintain 5-year lease payment schedule on a monthly basis. 
  • Reconcile monthly statements received from vendors, request missing invoices, dispute invoice amounts, as needed. 
  • Prepare check requests for various project employee payments
  • Respond to Project Manager requests and complete special projects, as assigned.  

 

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong communication and analytical skills, a self-starter who can work independently and execute projects effectively, and an individual able to work hands on within the various departments of the organization and communicate effectively up the chain of command. 

Preferred:

  • 1-2 years project accounting experience.
  • JD Edwards experience.
  • Understanding of leases.
