The Engineering Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration, and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from working in Application Tooling, Utility, Lean Manufacturing, Research & Development lab, New Product Development, continuous improvement or more.
A Day In The Life
Engineering Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.
Roles and Responsibilities will vary by Hubbell business location, but may include the following:
- Research and provide technical assistance to engineers
- Review current engineering program activities to make recommendations for changes/improvement opportunities
- Perform tests to assure quality control
- Provide technical excellence in developing firmware associated with high volume electronic products within the AMI industry.
- Contribute to the development of documentation and firmware deliverables from concept to production launch.
- Create automated unit test scripts, written in Python, to test Aclara's AMI devices.
- Use Microsoft ADO and Git source control to support the development of the test scripts.
- Perform other duties as assigned
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Student must be enrolled at a sophomore or higher level in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency, with preferred experience using CAD/related drawing software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Python or C or C++ experience
- Automation experience
- Unit test experience with Cmake, CPPtest or Google test
- Azure Dev Ops experience with Pipelines and Repositories
- Hardware interface experience including communicating and controlling remote test equipment
- Labview or scripting experience (PowerShell or batch files)
- Competent user of Visio or other flowcharting tools
- Programming experience preferred, but not required
Compensation Range: $22.50/hour - $29.00/hour (dependent upon graduation date)
