Position Overview
The Electrical Test Engineer responsible for leading the conceptualization, design, development and deployment of production test equipment for Aclara’s microprocessor controlled radio products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Development incorporates all aspects of design from concept to production launch
- Interacts in a team environment working with others to achieve the best possible end product from all functional viewpoints
- Synthesizes design inputs from various stakeholders and define overall system behaviors
- Develop and implement strategy to validate resulting systems against customer requirements. Thus the design and development responsibilities include the development and implementation of design verification test procedures
- Responsible for the overall quality of the system, its performance against requirements and on schedule delivery
- Captures and directs corrective actions in response to field complaints and supply issues
- Document using established guidelines
- Ability to accept complete project responsibility
- Motivated self-starter and independent decision making based on good judgment
- Innovative and creative approach to problem solving
Education, Skills and Experience
Bachelor or higher level degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical degree
Minimum two (2) years of experience working in the capacity of Test Engineer or five (5) years Electronics, Sustaining or Component Engineer/Technician, with strong skills at both system and board level in a high volume manufacturing environment
Intermediate knowledge of RF electronics design and manufacturing to the component level
Familiar with data communication equipment, RF equipment, high volume manufacturing
Basic understanding of DFMA/DFT principles as related to both electronic and mechanical fabrication and assembly processes
Advanced communication, documentation and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate issues to the Design Engineering Department
Basic knowledge working with Microsoft Office and other related software utilizing a Windows platform
Advanced background in schematic capture and circuit design
Advanced experience and knowledge using software programs such as C#, C++, VB.NET
Hardware or test fixture design experience
Experience in microprocessor application development
Familiarity with communication and network protocols (TCP/IP)
Knowledge of communications protocols
SQL experience
Frequent walking/sitting
Ability to travel via air or land 25% of the time
