Position Overview


Transformational Innovation Team Lead: 


Organize and facilitate Lean Startup Innovation Sprint projects across all Hubbell Commercial Industrial (HCI) businesses. Responsible for multiple activities within the Front End Innovation FEI process including customer insights, problem statement value proposition, solution attributes, minimum viable prototypes, hypothesis testing, challenge workshops, and executive business case presentation. Manage multiple innovation projects and NPD customer insight events while working with cross functional teams. Generate customer leads through networking, social media, and cold calls. Knowledge of Adobe photoshop & Illustrator preferred. Knowledge of 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor CAD software is a strong plus.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide training, direction, and support to cross functional teams running 3-month Lean Startup sprints across all HCI businesses
  • Develop design concepts and industrial design illustrations for customer solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing managers and engineers to identify customer needs and value propositions.
  • Identify, contact, and arrange interviews with a variety of customers and end users though the Hubbell salesforce, trade shows, industry organizations, and social media.
  • Coordinate and schedule customer insight events for various NPD project teams.
  • Identify and research agency standards and requirements (UL, CSA, ETL, IEC, TIA, IEEE, NEMA etc) for various products and categories.
  • Manage multiple innovation projects while working within cross-functional teams. Report project status as needed to management and take appropriate actions to maintain project schedules.
  • Provide research and support materials to build business case for executive presentation and approval.
  • Work with Enterprise wide business units to acquire international market research and customer insights
  • Some travel required, both domestic and international.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks to be assigned as needed based on organizational and company needs.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator preferred.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD modeling using Autodesk Inventor is a strong plus.


Skills and Experience

2-5 years in a customer insights, innovation, industrial design, or product design role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Knowledge of industrial design. Capable of working on multiple simultaneous projects. Must be able to generate customer leads through networking, social media, and cold calls. Must be proficient in procuring customer appointments and insight interviews. Must be able to maintain a fast, energetic pace while adapting to changing environments, project pivots, and short notice travel requirements. Strong plus if skilled in 3D CAD software preferably Autodesk Inventor. 


Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Other
