Job Overview
The Product Manager is responsible for driving the overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans for the assigned product lines to meet sales, profit and other financial objectives. They will provide guidance regarding technical information, including product launches, and training and support to all internal and external personnel and customers. This position will ensure products launched in Canada meet all marketing and electrical standard requirements. Product lines are assigned by Manager, Product Marketing or Director, Strategic Development.
A Day In The Life
- Launch new Hubbell products ensuring Canadian requirements are met including system requirements, pricing recommendations, electrical approvals, packaging, stocking programs and literature.
- Propose and support new product opportunities through the use of business plans, NPD process, and VOC surveys and input.
- Develop and maintain good relations with Hubbell US marketing counterparts and and participate in NPD projects and meetings as required. Provide U.S. personnel with Canadian requirements for NPD.
- Respond to market place opportunities that arise from market changes such as industry codes, competitive situations, and government legislation.
- Maintains close working relationships with Sales, distributor partners and customers to identify new opportunities and to grow sales of existing products.
- Develop and monitor reporting of product line performance across sales territories, market segments, and customers encompassing sales, margin, velocity, inventory and forecast data analytics.
- Initiate projects and recommend actions to achieve margin, sales, or strategic objectives.
- Review and provide guidance for inventory and forecasting to Operations.
- Lead price strategy development and collaborate with others to execute price increases
- Monitor and recommend product price levels and special pricing to achieve gross margin targets.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university – Business, Marketing or Engineering
- Electrical Engineering or Technologist preferred
- 5+ Years related experience and/or training in Marketing of Electrical or Construction products to a Wholesaler Channel
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail and other PC application skills.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Project Management: Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.
