Position Overview

We are looking for a Business Analyst Power BI Developer to modify existing and develop new analytic solutions that turn data into knowledge.  In this role, you should have a background in data and business analysis. If you also have a business acumen and problem-solving aptitude, we’d like to meet you.

The Business Analyst will provide hands on design, development and build of Analysis service reporting models in Microsoft Power BI. The position is a multi-disciplined role requiring active participation with functional business leaders at Hubbell Canada and meeting the reporting & analytics needs of the business. 

The Business Analyst will proactively analyse data with an eye for what drives business performance beyond the basic requirement.  Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be critical for efficiency, offering value-add solutions to internal customers.

Ideal candidates for this role should be resourceful, well-organized and must have excellent communication skills.  Ultimately, the Power BI Developer will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, developing and training utilizing Power BI dashboards.  Ultimately, you will enhance our business intelligence system to help us make better decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop
• Coordinate with business subject matter experts to bridge the gap between business users and technical team
• Recognize opportunities to drive advanced analytics solutions that deliver value to key organizational partners
• Review existing reports and reorganize resources into a Canadian structure to facilitate getting the right data to the right users, making it easier for these users to access data
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting and participate in the preparation of testing and quality assurance activities
• Participate in project design and code walk-throughs with an eye on whether the deliverables have met the requirements
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
• Collaborate with teams to integrate reports
• Implement report security policies that manages user access to data
• Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
• Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports
• Develop and update technical documentation
• Train user groups on data visualizations

Skills and Experience

• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent”

• Bilingual is an asset
• SAP
• Power BI
• Developer must have minimum 5 years of experience on power BI, delivering interactive dashboards
• Strong communication skills
• Works well within a team
• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or Data Analyst
• Industry experience is preferred
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modelling) and data mining
• Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
• Highly proficient at visualization design
