Job Overview
Under the direction of Production Manager, manages the shipping area by managing shippers and deliveries. Additionally, this individual is responsible for preparing customer orders for shipping, receiving material and equipment, and loading and unloading trucks according to established procedures and shipping regulations, meeting customer delivery requirements.
A Day In The Life
· Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments. Ensure schedule alignment; department employees are present at the beginning of each shift and in correct work areas.
· Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
· Supervise departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to production manager.
· Perform accident investigations; recommend actions to prevent reoccurrences of problems.
· Facilitate cross training.
· Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
· Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review and disciplinary actions.
· Monitor and maintain attendance records in E-time.
· Inventory management and production recording in SAP
· Prepare product for shipping to customers.
· Ensure customer order and product match.
· Contact common carriers and schedule pick-ups, ensuring the meeting of customer delivery requirements.
· Coordinate loading of trucks with outgoing products.
· Inspect and ensure bills of lading are correct.
· Affix completed address label and any other special labels required for the handling of material and specified by the carrier.
· Complete and maintain all required paperwork.
· Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
· Process recycled products.
What will help you thrive in this role?
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
· 3 – 5 years manufacturing experience in a shipping/ receiving position-lead position preferred
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Kaizen experience a plus
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
· Must be computer literate
