Position Overview

Summary: Under general supervision, keeps machinery and equipment of an establishment in good repair. Examines machines for defects in operation, replaces defective parts, makes necessary adjustments to insure efficient operation, affixes special attachment parts only in an emergency. Has sufficient knowledge to install, repair or rebuild equipment and repair ordinary parts as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Observes mechanical devises in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devises to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devises and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.
  • Repairs electrical equipment.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Use of Ohm’s meter, Amps meter and Volts meter.
  • General understanding of NEC
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, VFD, DC motor drivers, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical control systems and other related devices
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • Troubleshoot PLC and read ladder diagram.
  • Run and bend EMT conduit.
  • Change light fixtures and trouble shoot.
  • General electrical maintenance and repair, pull wires and test circuits.
  • Lockout and tagout procedures
  • Arc flash trained or awareness
  • General electrical maintenance safety
  • Use of man lift and boom lift



  • Trouble shoot Pneumatic control,
  • Trouble shoot hydraulic control
  • General fabrication.
  • Change mechanical parts, pneumatic and hydraulic parts
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • General maintenance
  • Located problems and malfunctions, repaired machinery and replaced defective parts
  • Rebuilt mechanical machinery and equipment
  • Respond immediately to mechanical breakdown on the floor
  • Work safely and follow company safety procedures
  • Lockout and Tagout procedures
  • Maintain parts list and identify spare parts inventory.
  • Use of hand tools and power tools.
  • General facility maintenance.
