Position Overview

The overall mission of this role is to obtain data and apply it in helping the organization to make effective operational decisions that contribute to overall profitability. At Burndy, an operations analyst will serve as an expert in quantitative and qualitative variance analysis. This person will work closely with the operations and cost accounting functions. This person should excel in identifying key data, interpreting findings, and helping managers understand the numbers behind their operational actions. This person should also apply independence in reviewing plant spending and serving as a partner with the operations team in joint custodianship of inventory and fixed assets. This person will also champion productivity initiatives and SOX compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong skill set in Excel and in working with the costing side of ERP systems. In addition, this person should have prior experience working with data from a manufacturing company with a standard costing model.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Other duties may be assigned:
    • Review and monitor daily production order variances 
    • Review & approve plant spending  
    • Conduct monthly plant conversion cost reporting & forecasting; present findings to a cross-functional group of managers & Sr. analysts each month.  
    • Monitor monthly capacity planning: Monitor earned hours, OT spend and labor capacity. 
    • Perform monthly financial close inputs:  (Expense accruals, earned hours review, cost center spending, labor productivity review, statistical labor & absorption data).
    • Lead Annual Plan Preparation 
    • Support Annual Physical Inventory  
    • Support Internal & External audits   support as needed (mainly related to internal audit visits to the plants but also as needed to support the central HQ sites)
    • Deiliver Productivity Planning/Reporting.
    • Manage facilities Fixed Asset Process – Assist project managers with capital expenditure requests & work with central Hubbell team to facilitate the procurement activities related to said expenditures. 
Skills and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field; Masters Degree a +.  Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting is required. Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing operations is preferred.  Must have direct experience in working with physical inventories and capital project justification models.
