Position Overview

The Associate Project Engineer position will be responsible for all engineering aspects of the assigned NPD projects.  This includes vendor communication, product prints, validation & certification, and project coordination to meet timing requirements.  NPD projects will consist of lighting fixtures with lamp base and integral LED light sources.  This position will support the Progress Lighting Brand within Hubbell Lighting.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for all engineering aspects of assigned NPD lighting projects

  • Vendor communication of project specifications and review of design
  • Create and edit product drawings in Autocad 2D
  • Create and edit product drawings in Solid Edge 3D
  • Review and release product drawings and instruction sheets
  • Update product database with relevant product data
  • Create and execute the test plan with various test labs
  • Review test results and certification listings
  • Process and complete engineering changes in a timely fashion
  • Create 3-D drawings at vendors request
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other documents concerning assigned projects

Skills and Experience

Required Skills:

  • Engineering Degree: Relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Proficiency in 2-D and 3-D CAD packages including AutoCAD and Solid Edge
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology
  • Experience maintaining and updating engineering documentation through a structured Engineering Change notice system
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with electrical circuits
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge or experience working with of lighting products including LEDs
  • Experience evaluating die-cast, fabricated steel, extruded, and injection molded mechanical parts
  • Experience with Electrical testing of lighting fixtures including EMC and FCC
  • Experience with Mechanical and Thermal testing of lighting fixtures
  • Familiarity with safety/certification standards such as UL, FCC/IC, and Energy Star
  • Experience with installation of lighting fixtures
  • Knowledge utilizing SAP business software

Education

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
