Job Overview

Responsibilities of this hands-on position includes supervision of all direct and indirect labor activities within the Pre/Final test departments in an ISO 9001 environment. Provides training, guidance and assistance to department personnel. Prioritizes and assigns tasks to ensure maximum efficiency. Monitors workmanship and overall performance of department members and compliance with ISO procedures. Maintains standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and work instruction sheets (WIS’s) up-to-date. Initiates corrective actions (CAR’s) where necessary and executes activities demanded by engineering change orders (ECO’s). Ensures proper labor and inventory reporting.  Performs various levels of test operations. Provides proper and sufficient tools, test rigs and equipment to ensure efficiency. Monitors equipment calibration requirements and ensures that equipment and tools are in compliance with Quality Assurance Policies. Provides training and ensures adherence to all safety procedures. Reports to the Production Manager.

A Day In The Life

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Ensures orders are moved through the test department in a timely manner to adhere to the manufacturing schedule. 
•    Provides direction and support to activities within the department as directed by the Production Manager.
•    Ensures that proper tools are provided, equipment is maintained and safety procedures are implemented and followed within the department.
•    Assist and guide department employees to maximize efficiency.
•    Expedites material shortages and back-orders and plans short-term labor requirements per dispatch list.
•    Ensures that SOP’s and WIS’s are up-to-date and adhered to.
•    Implements and ensures completion of ECO driven departmental activities.
•    Provides recommendations to increase test efficiency and cost reduction initiatives.
•    Schedules, provides set ups, prioritizes and coordinates work within the department and provides consistent expediting of work.
•    Provides direct involvement with changing or implementing new test techniques.
•    Ensures efficient departmental workflow and meeting of set standards of time and quality.
•    Communicates to Manager major deviation of time standards or any other issues.
•    Performs direct labor functions to include any level of test operations within the department.
•    Expedites customer service repairs through the department.
•    Interacts with other test and manufacturing departments.
•    Helps ensure quality awareness within the department and other production departments.
•    Maintains inventory control and accuracy where applicable.

EDUCATION/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2 year degree in electronics technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in testing, troubleshooting and repairing of electronic equipment.
  • Must be PC literate.
  • Must have organizational, leadership and excellent communication skills.
