Position Overview

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for directing the daily activities of the Distribution Center including labor scheduling, supervision, and proper utilization of space, equipment and manpower. Key responsibilities include staffing, training, operations, inventory management, maintenance of the facility and equipment, implementation of safety, security, housekeeping and sanitation programs, budgeting, and customer service.


<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Distribution Center Manager serves as an interface and coordinator among the DC and manufacturing operations, customer service (Hubbell Businesses), IT, Human Resources, and Transportation. The DC Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient and economical operation of the facility and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain established headcount levels for the RDC through active participation in the new employee recruitment and selection process.
  • Ensure training and cross training of employees to develop and enhance employee skills necessary to meet established performance levels.
  • Monitor employee performance and provides re-training and/or discipline as needed, to ensure consistent quality, productivity and safety.
  • Monitor compliance to and enforce all safety and disciplinary policies. Take immediate action to correct any unsafe working conditions or practices.
  • Establish work schedules and assignments for all employees in the RDC. Ensure orders are processed and shipped by priority on time every day.
  • Complete employee time keeping records and maintain ongoing employee attendance records.
  • Maintain appropriate housekeeping levels in the RDC.
  • Maintain integrity of products and product inventory records in the RDC.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies required to conduct operations.
  • Monitor the conditions of assigned equipment and coordinate maintenance and repairs to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Utilize the warehouse data systems to monitor, control and record warehouse operations related to various areas of the RDC.
  • Monitor facility security on an ongoing basis. Ensure facility is opened and closed to conduct daily operations or for emergency response activities.
  • Contribute to or complete special projects as assigned by management.
  • Proactively identify and implement Lean and process improvement concepts in the RDC to improve safety, efficiency, productivity, cost and quality.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics or comparable job experience.
  • A minimum of (5) years of distribution experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving processes, procedures and systems.
  • Computer skills including: Intermediate skills in MS Excel 2010 or newer version, such as creating graphs and charts.  Intermediate skills in MS Word 2010 or newer version, such as using tables, columns and breaks, graphics, fields, headers and footers, working with margins, page orientation, and spelling/grammar.  Intermediate skills in MS Power Point 2010 or newer version such as working with templates, using multimedia objects and custom animations, adding interactions, and publishing completed presentations.
  • Ideal candidate will have two or more years of user experience in SAP
  • Working knowledge of the distribution industry including industrial equipment operation, picking, packing, and receiving put-away methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Project management or material handling experience required.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies a plus.
