Position Overview

 

Provide coordination and support to the engineering team including team members at other facilities. The position will be responsible for a variety of product, technical and engineering functions inclusive of Engineering changes, testing, and drafting coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee engineering change request activities in support of engineers and merchandisers.
  • Process and complete engineering changes in a timely fashion.
  • Assist when needed in creating and releasing new assembly drawings for product releases.
  • Create 3-D drawings at vendors request.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other documents concerning assigned projects.
  • Bench/performance test light fixtures with ability to interpret results.

Skills & Experience

 

  • A.S. Degree: Relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of (2)+ years of experience in engineering, preferably lighting.
  • Proficiency in 2-D and 3-D CAD packages including AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology.
  • Experience maintaining and updating engineering documentation through a structured Engineering Change notice system.
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with electrical circuits, soldering, making mechanical connections and electrical/electronic bench testing, preferably with LED luminaries.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Knowledge or experience working with of lighting products including LEDs.
  • Experience evaluating die-cast, fabricated steel, extruded, and injection molded mechanical parts.
  • Experience with Electrical testing of lighting fixtures including EMC and FCC.
  • Experience with Mechanical and Thermal testing of lighting fixtures.
  • Familiarity with safety/certification standards such as UL, FCC/IC, and Energy Star.
  • Experience with installation of lighting fixtures.
  • Knowledge utilizing SAP business software.
