Harvey Hubbell, II founded the Company in 1888 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His first patent – and his new company’s first product – was a stand for rolls of wrapping paper with a movable cutter. This same product is still used in stores today for everything from gift-wrapping stations to deli counter paper. Countless inventions followed, including the pull socket switch for Thomas Edison’s new electric light bulb in 1896, and the separable plug and duplex receptacle, still used everywhere electrical power is used. This rich history still drives us today. View a complete history of Hubbell Incorporated on our website.
