Position Overview

Design technician works as a part of our electrical engineering team while designing and implementing many different methods and techniques for designing our products. Designs and produces engineering drawings & prints as required.  Following products engineering design procedures when performing verification, testing, maintenance and product management as needed.  Illustrates products from specifications, source control drawings, sketches, models, prototypes or verbal instructions.  Design technician requires knowledge of complex mathematics, physics, good problem-solving abilities, strong communication, and creativity.  In addition, will help to ensure that company operating and cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards are achieved, and both customer delivery deadlines & product satisfaction are met at all time.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely and follow instructions from the department manager or the work assigned team member.
  • Understanding Work Procedures, Work Instructions, Standards, and Processes.
  • Build and set up products, conduct experiments and testing, and collect/file data and calculate results.
  • Enter products & items details into TCM & SAP enterprise database systems.
  • Work with Customer Support, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, Quality, and other applicable teams, on customer quires while pursuing with Design Development Data Checklist (DCL) & Engineering Change Notice (ECN).
  • Handle designing activities of both existing and new products.
  • Contributor in all engineering & manufacturing processes of continuous improvement.
  • Produce drawings & models for new products.
  • Work and communicate well with others
  • Be adaptive with the workplace and work pace.
  • Having excellent time management skills, setting up work priorities, possess high “sense of work urgency”, while carrying multiple tasks at the same time and meeting different deadlines.  
  • Adhere to the company professional environment, systems, ethics, and the company’s safety policies. 
  • Understand the existing products applications, technical features and offerings
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints & customers drawings, and having the ability to create products estimations lists (materials takeoffs) for the products which can be supplied from the company.
  • Proficiently operating with AutoCAD workstation (advanced knowledge).
  • Previous experience with Inventor would be great advantage.
  • Provide support while resolving shop floor work problems, and creating new work instructions or procedure
  • Collaborate with Quality Department to ensure that all issues are resolved through Root Cause and Corrective Actions deployed and properly maintained.
  • Establishing, filing and organizing engineering documents.
  • Always willing to meet due dates and accept new challenges & assignments as required by the job.
Other Responsibilities
  • Work with the Engineering Manager, or the assigned team member, to identify and proceed with generating products designs, testing, research on performance enhancements, modifications, and handle product cost-reductions.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical drawings & project documents, and come up with detailed preliminary bill-of-materials (products estimations lists) during sales stage, related to products that can be possibly supplied from the company.  
  • Provide support while resolving shop floor work problems, and creating new work instructions or procedure
  • Provide applicable support while creating product sales and marketing collaterals
  • Organize engineering data and appropriately maintain documentation on product design, changes and testing, and for R&D projects.
  • Evaluate and test new products to ensure compliance with appropriate quality measures & industry and engineering standards.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work with or near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the factory work environment is usually loud.  Occasional wearing of hearing protectors will be required.
  • Employee is required to wear eye protection when on plant floor.
  • The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
Qualifications
  • Technical Associates Degree in the related field or equivalent experience & training
  • 2-4 similar previous experience.
  • Previous AutoCAD experience is a must (advanced knowledge).
  • Previous hands-on experience with Inventor.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Work & communicate well with others with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly-motivated with good time management skills.
  • Fast learner with strong written and oral communication skills.
