Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Program Manager will lead Aclara New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives and deliverables. Will work collaboratively with teams of Engineers, Product Managers, Operations, Software Developers, Sales, Quality Assurance, Customers and other Aclara resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development initiative projects from start to finish, including:
    • Develop and track to a project budget and target dates.
    • Lead program and project teams for optimal return-on-investment, and coordinate cross-BU initiatives
    • Identify and handle both risks and issues.
    • Facilitate issue resolution across departments.
  • Provide oversight and coordination with Engineering, Software, Operations, Test, Production, Marketing and other teams and business units throughout the product development lifecycle including:
    • Define, maintain, and champion project lifecycle processes and provides guidance for overall development processes for all organizations
    • Plan, organize and monitor the completion of requirement definitions, functional specifications, product design specifications, design documents, and system and technical architecture definition.
    • Coordinate multi-functional activities of NPI, including but not limited to electro-mechanical, manufacturing, embedded firmware, hardware, software and systems design teams, including functional partners, in the development of Aclara products.
    • Support Product Management in orchestrating the definition of functional requirements, ensuring product-cost and project schedules meet market needs and understanding the project business case.
    • Coordinate the development, customer delivery team and test personnel during Alpha, Beta, First Article, Product and System Acceptance tests, and certification requirements.
    • Coordinate with the Product Marketing and Operations team to ensure that a Commercialization plan for new products is in place.
    • Communicate to Business Unit leadership and Segment Executive team they status summary of projects including financials, risks, mitigations, contingencies and impact to revenue

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business
  • 7+ years of directly leading the implementation of NPIs
  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills combined with technical capability.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
  • Adaptable and effective at leading change and team building capabilities.
  • Skilled at handling conflict and effectively working through to quick resolution.

Preferred:

  • Active PMP or PgMP(R) Certification.
  • Utility and Energy industry experience, particularly related to Smart Infrastructure Solutions (SIS) for water, gas and electric networks
