Position Overview

Hubbell is seeking a Vice President  of Logistics to own the strategy and execution of global fulfillment and inbound and outbound transportation while overseeing operational transformation to improve cost, service and flow. The ideal candidate is an ambitious leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves solving problems. You will report directly to the Chief Manufacturing and Supply Chain Officer.

This position can be based in Shelton, CT; Greenville, SC or various DC locations within Hubbell.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the company’s logistics solutions portfolio globally. This scope includes both existing and emerging solutions. The solutions include but are not limited to warehouse management, transportation and freight management, distribution, 3PL, cross docking and other third-party interfaces, RFID and sales inventory audit solutions, vendor interfaces for product inbound and outbound etc.
  • Conceptualize the future state realization of front end to back end coordination and optimization. Evolve existing footprint and infrastructure into future state network of internal and external solutions. Research and implement leading edge technologies and processes for continuous improvement and innovation. Perform detailed analysis of supply chain and logistics business processes and requirements to produce custom solution specifications for complex and large projects.
  • Lead, align, influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries within technology and business functions (e.g. project teams, functions, and partner organizations) without direct authority. Manage the resolution of cross-functional and cross-platform issues, tradeoffs, and risk in accordance with Enterprise Operations objectives.
  • Experience managing global teams for a multi-national organization.
  • Take ownership for current in-flight solutions and their development and bring the necessary expertise and insight to shape their further delivery at a global level.
  • Experience managing full cycle implementations of processes or systems to success.
  • Manage, lead and develop the distributed team of technology managers, developers, business and functional analysts, testing teams and other team members in this functional area to build a high performing team that is collaborative and highly engaged across business partners.
  • Maximize operational excellence and customer happiness leading to strong profitability. Drive cost improvements by developing opportunities for material, freight, labor and overhead cost reductions and fully implement changes to achieve results. Drive improvement in on-time delivery, past due backlog, lead-times, and inventory levels through the implementation of world-class materials management processes. Set overall goals and planning for the organization in relation to all supply chain Logistics initiatives. Implement profit driven actions and follow up with DC managers on their DC budgets.
  • Influence new facility design to incorporate operational functions vital for quality surveillance of suppliers, RMA support, and new process development.
  • Analyze and assess industry and market dynamics on a regular basis to assess cost, material allocation and modern distribution trends.
  • Responsible for driving Enterprise results with a strategic, and proactive approach focusing on people and business. Ensure and drive a long-term and balanced people strategy for the enterprise, ensuring a strong talent bench for all roles. Secure all resources for project roll outs and expansion according to enterprise expectations. Responsible for delivering a high quality, sustainable people development pipeline. Have a holistic view on how logistics contribute to the overall business result and how to include and collaborate with different functions to reach the best outcome.
  • Lead compliance with company and governmental regulations including environmental policy, employee accident/injury/illness and other local regulatory policies imposed.
  • Set the implementation plan for following up on global sustainability goals and strategies for the enterprise and provide conditions for all support departments to be involved.

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Computer Science or equivalent is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Industrial experience is a must have. 12-15 years Leadership experience in managing complex and wide scoping full life cycle implementations at enterprise scale. Experience with industry leading supply chain and logistics big data driven technologies. Proven experience in process improvement, leading projects with a record of successful implementation. Strong analytical and operational skills. Strong knowledge of distribution operations and systems. Proven project management skills.
  • Partnering and effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across technology, business and with external partners with high degree of self-awareness and influencing abilities. Strong ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or emotional issues. Excellent communication skills, including written and oral; with the ability to present to C Suite and large groups with confidence. Works well in team environment, with sound negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes according to changing business need
  • Ability to travel internationally and locally up to 60%. This position can be based out of Hubbell US Geocenter (e.g. Shelton, Greenville, Manchester, St. Louis).
